Throwback -- Our FIRST Baby Alive Dolls

This is a photo of my FIRST Violet. My original Baby Alive Real Surprises Baby Doll. She was really sweet. I wish I still had her. I do have another Violet just like her, now, but we do not use our Real Surprises Baby Alive dolls much, for fear that they will break.

Here is my original Violet in our purple car seat. She was playing with a rattle hanging from the handle on her seat. I love how her eyes are half opened. It makes her seem a little sleepy. Notice she is wearing the BONUS Dress and Vest that came in the bonus pack of the Baby Alive Real Surprises Doll at Walmart during the Christmas Season. She is also wearing little black patent shoes that came from Walmart. They are made for the My Life As dolls from Walmart, but they fit her perfectly.

Isn't she so sweet. Look at her here holding her little stuffed bunny. She looks so sleepy and cute with her little pacifier that she came with.

Sadly, however, after feeding my original Violet doll a LOT, she stopped working. I tried taking her apart to fix her, but it was hopeless. She is such a cute baby, but after going through several Baby Alive Real Surprises Dolls, we figured out that her pipe somehow gets loose inside her, which allows liquids to leak on her electronic parts. This is why we only feed our Real Surprises dolls rarely. We do they they are so sweet, but do not want them to break.

Overall, the Baby Alive Real Surprises dolls are SO cute. I love how she is a little sassy and teases and turns her head when we try to feed her. But she does break easily, so anyone looking for this Baby Alive doll needs to beware that she may not be able to talk if you feed her too much.

All that said, however, this is an adorable little Baby Alive doll. She doesn't have a soft face, but her head turns at the neck and her eyes close when she is laid down, which makes her able to sleep or be awake.

Do you have this doll? Does it still work? Let us know. I would love to hear if anyone has a success story of keeping her working if they feed her very often.

Also, who loves the food packet dolls the best? I know many people prefer the play doh eating dolls, but we often hear that people are really missing the food packet dolls, and wish Hasbro would come out with a new food packet eating baby. What do you think?

Our Last Baby Alive Post

Baby Alive Real Surprises
Zoe Kissing her Baby Alive when she got her replacement from Hasbro

We love Baby Alive. The idea of feeding and changing a baby doll is so fun. My daughter and I both had Baby Alive dolls, and both of them broke. After both of us replacing our first Baby Alive Real Surprises dolls, they broke again. We did not abuse our dolls, in fact, my daughter's second Baby Alive doll broke after only one day. They quit talking and responding to us. This is extremely disappointing, and we have decided to get different dolls. Good Bye Baby Alive. We miss you </3

I Exchanged my Broken Baby Alive at Wal-Mart

Broken Baby Alive
My Baby Alive Back in Her Box

My Baby Alive Stopped Working

Less than a week after buying my beautiful Baby Alive Real Surprises doll, Violet, she stopped working. Zoe's Baby Alive had stopped working, too, and has been sent back to Hasbro for an exchange. I would have exchanged Zoe's Baby Alive at Wal-Mart, but we didn't keep her box, so we couldn't. I did still have my Baby Alive box, though, so I was able to exchange my doll.

The Walmart Baby Alive Exchange

I really did not want to exchange her, because I had given her a really cute hair cut, and grown so attached to her. I decided I could re-cut my baby's hair, though, because after paying over $50 for a doll, she should at least last longer than a week. I regretfully packed Violet up in her box, and took her into the store. I had worried that they might not let me exchange her, because she had a haircut, but they did not say anything about it.

Limited Feeding for my new Baby Alive Real Surprises

My NEW Violet is home, and has adjusted to her life, quite well. She has been fed once, and I am being extra careful to not give her as much water this time. While I feel that they should make these babies able to drink and eat an unlimited amount without getting wet, I have learned NOT to give them too much water. We only fed Violet one packet of Baby Alive food and water in her bottle up to the lowest line. I am crossing my fingers she keeps working!

Hasbro Replaces Zoe's Broken Baby Alive Real Surprises Doll!

Zoe is really happy! We heard back from Hasbro, and I have to say that I am impressed with their customer service. In regards to Zoe's Baby Alive Real Surprises doll, they said they would replace her. They sent me a postage paid shipment label, and even though Zoe's baby has been given a haircut, they will give her a whole new Baby Alive to replace the one she has that isn't working. Hasbro's customer service even said, "Feel free to keep all of her accessories". They seemed really personable when I wrote back asking if it was okay that Zoe had given Eloise a haircut, and said it was absolutely fine. I feel really wonderful about the whole situation, and will be packing Eloise for shipment, tomorrow...UNLESS she is working.... Maybe she is drying out and working again, because tonight, Zoe turned Eloise on, and she was working. We will give it a try, tomorrow, and if she is working, then we won't need to send her in. We shall see!! I will be sure to update if Eloise is working, and if not, how long it takes to receive the Baby Alive Real Surprises replacement doll. So far, I am IMPRESSED with Hasbro's customer service. They said they want to make quality products for their customers. :-)

See inside Baby Alive Real Surprises

Open Baby Alive
Baby Alive Taken Apart

Well...Our Baby Alive's have not been working well. I wrote Hasbro, and haven't heard back, so I bit the bullet, and took them apart. They were wet inside near the electronics. I'm not sure if we fed them too much, or what, but they were definitely wet. :-( So.... I dried them inside with cotton balls, and put them back together. They still aren't working, but we are hoping they will dry out the rest of the way on their own, and start working, again. Until then, they are on an imaginary food diet.

Opening Baby Alive

For anyone interested in seeing what Baby Alive looks like inside, I made a small video. It isn't the best of quality, because I was working on Baby Alive, while holding  the camera, so I only took quick video of the process. Here it is, for anyone wanting to see what Baby Alive looks like on the inside. :-)

Baby Eloise is Feeling Better

Zoe's Baby Alive Real Surprises Doll is feeling a little better, today. She works a little bit when we push her button, now. She isn't working perfectly, but we have high hopes that she will be all better soon. Zoe is feeling happy and hopeful. <3 data-blogger-escaped-br="">
Eloise and Violet are playing quietly in the playpen, right now. They are having fun drinking imaginary milk in their real baby bottles and real baby pacifiers during their quiet time. We are crossing our fingers that Eloise will be all better, soon. Hopefully she just needs a little time to dry out, or something like that.

We still haven't heard from Hasbro, but hopefully things will resolve themselves completely within a few days, and Zoe's Baby Alive will be working like new, again. :-)

Eloise is Sick :-(

Baby Alive Real Surprises

Eloise with her stylin' new hairdo and onesie.

Poor Zoe... Her Baby Alive Real Surprises Doll is not working. When we switch her on, she giggles, but that is it. She doesn't respond to her spoon, bottle, or pacifier. When we push on her tummy, she doesn't do anything, either. We changed her batteries, and still she is not working. Zoe is so upset. We are thinking maybe Eloise's tummy button got wet inside, so hopefully it will dry and she will start working, again. Until then, Eloise has to eat and drink imaginary food. Imaginary Baby Alive Food is not near as fun, though, because there is no poop and pee. I did write to Hasbro to see what they have to say about this issue. We are hoping they will have a simple solution for us. Eloise is exactly one month old, and already she doesn't work. :-( I will write an update on baby Eloise, soon. *Crossing fingers that Eloise will be okay*! Meanwhile, I have turned Violet off, too. The babies are being silent and both eating only imaginary food and baba. Lets hope their fast ends, soon! :-)
